Chris Foster is President, North America for BCW (Burson Cohn & Wolfe), responsible for managing growth, talent and key client relationships in the agency’s largest region. Prior to his current role, Foster was Worldwide Executive Vice President and Chief Business Development Officer at Burson-Marsteller, working on growth initiatives, executive-level client counsel, and business development across the global organization.
Foster has spent the last 25 years working in the healthcare industry across PhRMA, payors, providers, public health, and healthcare trade associations. His work in healthcare included developing and implementing national and global public education campaigns in the cardiovascular, nephrology, infectious disease, men’s health, and mental health therapeutic areas. Foster led a cross functional team that worked with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in implementing the state-based, federal, and partnership exchanges as a part of the implantation of the Affordable Care Act.
Foster is expert in pairing strategic counsel with integrated, data-driven communications. He specializes in working with public and private sector companies on understanding reputation risk and leveraging communications analytics to drive enterprise-wide strategy. He has led engagements and campaigns for organizations such as the U.S Department of Defense, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Social Security Administration, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Amgen, and Intel. Foster also has deep experience in consumer communications, having led corporate and brand campaigns for clients including Walgreens Boots Alliance, Office Depot, Colgate, Pfizer, and National Association of Chain Drug Stores. Before joining Burson-Marsteller, he was Senior Vice President & Partner at Booz Allen Hamilton working in both the firm’s commercial and international market sectors. Foster serves on the Board of Directors of The International Association for Measurement of Communications, The LAGRANT Foundation, The Institute for Public Relations, and Burgundy Farms Country Day School. He was named to PR Week’s “40 Under 40” list in 2008 and PR Week’s “U.S. Power List” in 2018. He has been a guest lecturer at the Columbia University School of Continuing Studies, the University of Maryland, School of Journalism, and Western Kentucky University.
In 2017, Foster published his first book, Reputation Strategy and Analytics in a Hyper-Connected World, a cross-disciplinary resource for communication and digital professionals alike.
